“What want ye boy? This is the lion’s den’”
“I seek the lion…”

Even as a 14-year-old orphan, Simon Beauvallet knew his own mind. Later, friend and foe alike will know better than to cross the flaxen-haired mountain of a man whose exploits in battle have earned him knighthood, lands and gilded armor. After Agincourt, he has no equal save the king himself in generalship – until a woman baulks his legendary prowess. In Normandy, the icy rage of Simon the Coldheart must melt – or quench Lady Margaret, spitfire of Belremy

This was one of her earliest book (1925), whimsy of a different sort and not Georgette Heyer’s usual style of writing, According to the preface written by her son for the 1979 reprint (I have a copy) it was one of the books that she didn’t think deserve reprinted and wasn’t, or published in the US, until after her death.

Not her best, writing is a bit clumsy but worth having for Heyer fans. —- It was her husband’s favorite and the reprint is dedicated to him.
