    Bad Boy (Susan Ericksen)

Best friends Tracie and Jonny meet for coffee each Sunday night to discuss their forlorn love lives. Tracie loves boys with an affinity for leather jackets and poetry – classic bad boys who seem too good to be true (and usually are); Jonny falls for girls who never like him in that way . . . until Jonny convinces Tracie to teach him some tricks of the trade. After a wardrobe makeover, learning to return from a dinner date with another phone number scrawled on his hand, scope for women at the airport baggage claim, and always carry a motorcycle helmet (even though he doesn’t ride a motorcycle), Jonny quickly becomes a successful heartbreaker.
And Tracie discovers that she just might be head-over-heels in love with her best friend. But there are more than a few loose ends. Tracie’s current bad boy has at last decided he wants to settle down, her girlfriend has the hots for Jonny, and Jonny can’t understand why Tracie never liked him for who he was before the leather.
With her inimitable wit, Olivia Goldsmith, best-selling author of The First Wives Club, delivers a smart, laugh-out-loud tale of modern romance sure to keep listeners everywhere in stitches.

    Dumping Billy (Bernadette Quigley)

There’s something magical about Billy Nolan. It’s not just that the Brooklyn bar owner is wickedly handsome; it is also that any woman he dates and dumps – and he dumps them all – immediately goes on to marry the next man she meets. But Kate Jameson is immune to his charms. She left Brooklyn for upward-mobility in Manhattan at the first chance she got, and she’s not about to fall for some cad from the old neighborhood. But when her best friend Bina’s engagement is broken off, Kate hatches a plan: all she has to do is get Billy to date and dump Bina. Then they’ll wait for Bina’s wayward fiance to return for the magic to happen. But the one thing Kate hasn’t counted on is how Billy feels about the whole plot – and how she begins to feel about Billy. She may have changed her style, but her roots are showing.

The First Wives Club (Christine Baranski)

Annie, Elise, and Brenda are all good wives who have helped their husbands achieve success. Now that their men are at the pinnacle, they find themselves dumped for younger, sleeker “trophy wives.” So they band together to form the “First Wives Club” for the purpose of seeing justice done. There are obvious problems with this first novel. For one thing, the husbands are the kind of guys you love to hate and the younger women are all immature and selfish. The first wives may have their problems (drinking, overeating, and so on) but they are warm, likable characters, unlike their rotten spouses. Despite all this, it’s still easy to cheer when the men reap their just rewards, and the first wives find love, happiness, and success. Money, sex, drugs, and revenge make for a heady mixture sure to be popular in any general fiction collection.
