A funny, sexy, heartfelt story about breaking free, taking chances–and finding the last thing you’re looking for.

Librarian C. J. Adams thinks marriage is a fine tradition–for somebody else. The love of her life is history, and in her experience, few men compare with the daring heroes who shaped civilization. Well-traveled, well-educated, and content to stay single, C.J. is convinced she isn’t missing anything. But her close friends disagree. When they resolve to find her soul mate.
On a ski trip to Aspen with her five best friends, she impulsively embraced a handsome stranger, pretending they were secret lovers—and the delighted lawyer who joined in her impetuous charade seized the moment to deepen the kiss. Astonished at his reaction, C.J. tried to nip their romance in the bud, but she found herself nipping at his neck instead. She had met her match in a man who could answer her witty remarks with clever ripostes of his own and a lover whose caresses aroused in her a passionate need she’d never suspected. Had destiny somehow tossed them together?

She never imagined that the Rockies had more in store for her than a skiing trip with friends, but whether she likes it or not, C.J.’s fate is about to be sealed.

“Traci Svendsgaard weaves the story of five lifelong friends who are in Aspen for a wedding. One of the members of the quintet, who is single, is so desperate not to be “fixed up” by well-meaning friends that she enlists the help of a handsome stranger to pretend to be interested in her. Svendsgaard’s narration creates a good-natured romp for listeners. Librarian C.J. Adams and the stranger, Fate Weston, are clearly voiced, but the performance fuses C.J.’s busybody cohorts into one voice. In addition, all too frequent references to Fate’s ethnicity tend to rankle. Still, this short offering is a guilty pleasure that will appeal to romance aficionados and Hooper’s fans.”
