Dani Quinn knew Logan Webster would be at her high school reunion. Yet she had come in order to prove to herself that she was not afraid to see him again. Her departure years before from both Logan and the small Texas town where they were sweethearts had been abrupt, painful, and not of her choosing. Worst of all, she’d never had the chance to tell Logan the truth of why she had to leave. Now she would not only have a chance to explain, but to ask him for a favor. Handsome, charming, and dangerously charismatic, Logan exudes all the power and confidence of a self-made success. He listens as Dani describes her work for a charitable foundation and expresses her hope that he will donate one of his properties for a much-needed summer camp. Logan agrees, but with one shocking proviso: that Dani fulfill the intimate promise she made to him years ago. It is meant to be a coldhearted business transaction…but this time when Dani is once again compelled to leave without an explanation, nothing can keep Logan from following.

Blair Simpson has embraced a life most people merely dreamed about. Devoting her nights as well as her days to dancing–in the chorus line of Broadway musicals and occasional TV commercials–she had never considered another career. Now an injury has sent her to a small town for six long months of recuperation. All around her are couples raising families and building dreams together. And there she meets a man who forces her to come to terms with a part of herself she has long denied.

From her first encounter with her new landlord, Sean Garett, the powerful attraction between them catches her off guard. For the first time she’s unable to lose herself in her dancing, as Sean’s passion and tenderness urge her to open her life to him. More than anything, Sean wants to build a future with fiery, raven-haired Blair. But Blair’s own passion for dance has ruled her for so long, she may not be able to break its hold–even if it costs her the love she had thought she’d never find.

Sandra Brown’s characters glow with the excitement of blossoming love, fervent longing, and tender heartbreak. Peter Francis James’s talented narration makes Heaven’s Price pure bliss.

The Devil’s Own
Read by Renee Raudman
Brilliance Audio, [2014]
Length: 8hrs 30 min

Of the lot, this man was still her best bet. He not only looked the most inebriated, but the most disreputable – lean and hungry and totally without principle. Once he was sober, he would no doubt be easy to buy.

“Sister” Kerry Bishop got more than she bargained for when she entered the seedy bar seeking the services of a man, more particularly a mercenary. Linc O’Neal wasn’t the soldier of fortune Kerry mistook him for…but he proved to be just as dangerous and twice as unscrupulous.

Linc agrees to help Kerry rescue a group of children from a ruthless dictator, but his motivation is far from noble. If they survive what appears to be a suicide mission, he plans to take Kerry’s promised fifty thousand dollars—in addition to her body—which she provocatively advertised in order to trick him, then withheld. Struggling against all odds to stay alive, they discover that their real challenge is to fight the devil within.

Ria Lavender is the last woman in the world to be swept away by a smooth line and a seductive smile. A talented architect, she’s just beginning to savor the fruits of her success when she meets a man who will change everything.

Mayor-Elect Taylor MacKensie is handsome, charming, and charismatic. Still, Ria never imagines that she’ll leave a Christmas party with him, or that, caught up in the magic of a snowfall and a bottle of champagne; she’ll give in to desire. Eight weeks later, Ria knows she’s carrying Taylor’s child. To give their baby a name, Ria persuades Taylor to marry her — at least temporarily. But while Ria soon feels a surprising tenderness — and passion — for Taylor, she fears his prime concern is protecting his career. Ria vows to keep her distance from the man who holds the key to her heart… until life teaches them both a lesson in miracles — and love.

This is a small book and the abridgement is so well done that it follows the text well. It does an excellent job with the last section.

1986 – 22 Indigo Place (incomplete) NLS
Narrated by Yvonne Fair Tessler.
Publisher: NLS, 1994
Length if complete: 5 hours, 57 minutes

Once James Paden had been the high-school bad boy–too dangerous to flirt with, but too gorgeous to ignore? Now Laura Nolan faced him as a woman, about to lose the home that had been a symbol of the good life in her small town to a man whose desire for her–and for 22 Indigo Place–had only deepened over time. What gave this man the devastating power to seduce her senses, to make her shiver with emotions she dared not confess? In his mind she’d always been the girl he couldn’t have, the rich man’s daughter for whom he’d never be good enough…until that moonlit night when the fierce touch of his lips branded her forever his…

Incomplete…because the recording is missing the last part of Chapter 03 and the first of Chapter 04 (pages 63 – 71). The original uploader who took it from NLS tapes repeated a part. I’ve redone this several times with the same result. Checking the written text, at the end of Chapter 03 Laura is remember that time James brought her home and Chapter 04 has her facing the selling of the house. Unless we can find someone NLS eligible, we are stuck with incomplete.

1986 – The Rana Look
read by: Eliza Foss
Publisher: Penguin Random House Audio Publishing Group
Release date: November 26, 2002
Duration: 05:14:29

The modeling world called it the Rana Look…the exotic, one-of-a-kind allure that only supermodel Rana Ramsey could deliver. With her green eyes, olive skin, and wildly lustrous auburn hair, Rana posed for ad campaigns and strutted down runways all over the world, naming her own price to sell everything from cosmetics to women’s lingerie.

But all of that suddenly ended one day when she looked her demanding mother-manager in the eye and said, “Enough.” That was the day Rana packed her things and left New York—and modeling—forever. Settling in Miss Ruby’s boardinghouse in Galveston, Texas, Rana finds success with her own business—and cultivates a new look to go with her new life. Now her beautiful eyes are shielded behind tinted glasses, her famous figure hidden under shapeless dresses, her trademark wild hair falling straight down her back. Rana knows she’ll never attract a man this way, and that’s just fine with her—that is, until Ruby’s nephew, football star Trent Gamblin, moves in to nurse his injured shoulder.

But to her surprise, Trent seems unfazed by her Plain Jane look. For he is drawn to a beauty that Rana can’t hide. He is determined to learn the mystery behind the elusive, reclusive boarder with the secret past. To do so, he proposes an unusual pact: they will only be friends, nothing more. Then an unexpected tragedy strikes, and the stakes seem higher than ever.

One reviewer said…” Two romances in one story: one between the hero and the heroine, and another between the hero and himself… Our hero is a throwback. No, not throw away although that would be better, but throwback. He is a petulant, egotistical stereotypical man-baby that according to SB pouts his perfect mouth, slams doors, and sullenly stamps around when he doesn’t get his way.”

You are warned!
